My nephew (18 months) is learning to recognize numbers. The numbers and letters go like this for him “ay, ay, ay, ay” – that’s him counting!
This one’s brilliant because the older one (4 years) can make it for her brother.. Talk about two birds with one stone!

This one can be adapted based on the age of the child. A 2-3 yr old can play this as a memory game. A 3-4 yr old can learn stages of a moon. Older children can play a shadow and shape demonstration. You can find all these teaching ideas here: http://www.gsc.org.uk/FileAccess.aspx?id=2091
